This role is classified as Level 4 (annual base salary $99,377 - $109,889) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department

At the heart of SBS, Audio and Language Content has over 60 language teams engaging audiences in conversations on Australian and international news and current affairs, and connecting communities through stories and providing settlement information. We deliver services across radio, podcasting, online and social media.

The Role

Reporting into the Program Manager, this role will see you supporting the wider team and doing the following: 

  • Ensuring audio and online content is produced and delivered in line with audience needs and editorial requirements
  • Engaging with broadcasters to shape and plan editorial projects
  • Assigning tasks and resources to others, supervising the development of multi-platform content and exercising appropriate editorial judgement
  • Managing and leading a team of a large program (large means a program that produces more than 200 hours of content per week and manages over 6.5 full time equivalent employees).
  • Actively engaging and seeking opportunities for cross divisional projects and activities that support SBS’s language strategy.

This is a full-time role offering 38 hours per week. This role can be based out of our Sydney and Melbourne studios. Applicants must have full rights to work within Australia for permanent ongoing employment.

Candidates will be required to undergo a language assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in the Indonesian language.

About you 

  • Extensive journalist and radio experience in a multi-platform environment.
  • Experience in managing a team, preferably in a broadcast environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders with strong collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and problem-solve
  • Proficiency in English and in Indonesian, both written and spoken including clear broadcast delivery. (Candidates will be required to undergo a language assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in both Languages.)
